​Srinagar/Jammu, October 24, 2025 - The Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education (J&K BOSE) has issued a significant circular making the adoption of its prescribed curriculum and textbooks mandatory for all affiliated private schools across the Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh, specifically for classes 1st to 10th


As per notification, It is urged upon all the managements of the private affiliated schools with J&K BOSE to fully adopt J&K BOSE curriculum and its prescribed textbooks from classes 1st to 10th.


The BOSE textbooks are available at the book stores of Srinagar and Jammu divisional offices of the organization apart from their availability at registered book shops in every district.


The J&K BOSE textbooks are simple, comprehensive and economical focusing on reducing academic stress. The books are covering the themes as envisaged under NEP- 2020 using NCERT content besides involving contextualization suitable for catering to the academic interests, age and grade appropriate understanding. The content promotes conceptual understanding, competency based learning and local relevance ensuring holistic education of uniform quality across the institutional spectrum.


The textbooks of BOSE have contributed to improve education landscape and produced efficient human resource over time. The students of both Government and private schools having relied on BOSE textbooks have made a mark both in competitive examinations and thereafter in the professional fields.


It is mandatory upon the affiliated private schools to adopt and teach the textbooks of the J&K BOSE under law and regulations and flouting of the circular instruction may entail unpleasant consequences for such institutions.
