Anantnag Police Arrested Two Drug Peddlers; Huge Quantity of Narcotic Substances Recovered
Anantnag Mar 03 : Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking, Anantnag Police achieved a significant success by arresting two drug peddlers in separate operations and recovering a huge quantity of narcotic substances from their possession.
A police party of Police Post Sangam, while conducting routine checking at Halmulla, intercepted a Maruti Alto bearing registration No. JK01P-4799. During the search of the vehicle, the police recovered approximately 4.90 kilograms of Ganja-like substance concealed inside the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Suhail Ahmad Bhat S/O Nazir Ahmad Bhat R/O Baliyar Marhama was immediately arrested and the contraband substance was seized on the spot.
In another operation, a Naka party of Police Post Sangam apprehended one person identified as Abdul Rashid Bhat S/O Abdul Razak Bhat R/O Bhatpora, Marhama at K.V. Pora Marhama. During checking, approximately 3.74 kilograms of Charas powder-like substance, along with the nylon bag in which it was concealed, was recovered from his possession.
In this connection, cases under FIR Nos. 56/2026 and 57/2026 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Bijbehara, and further investigation has been set into motion.
