Traffic Police Crack Down on Stunt Riding in Anantnag, Two Scooty Riders Booked

Anantnag, Mar 27: Traffic Police Anantnag have taken strict action against two scooty riders for rash and stunt driving after a video of the incident went viral on social media, officials said on Friday.
The action was carried out under the direct supervision of SSP Traffic Ravinder Pal Singh. A team led by DySP Traffic Anantnag Mohd Aslam, along with DTI and other officials, launched a probe to trace the violators seen in the video.
After sustained efforts, the team successfully identified the riders as Basit Farooq, son of Farooq Ah Mir, and Mohd Salik, son of Nazir Ahmed Sofi, both residents of Nai Basti Khanabal. The scooty involved bore registration number JK03K-2138.
Officials said the duo was found riding in a highly reckless manner, endangering their own lives as well as the safety of the general public. Their actions, they said, could have potentially resulted in a fatal accident and also caused inconvenience to commuters.
Both violators were summoned to the office of DySP Traffic Anantnag, where they were counselled on traffic discipline and road safety norms. Subsequently, they were challaned under relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Traffic authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining road safety and warned that strict action will be taken against those violating traffic rules or indulging in stunt driving.
