SSP Anantnag Takes Disciplinary Action Against 16 Beat Officers for Non-Reporting of Illegal Cultivation
Anantnag, 27 April 2026 : In a firm move to ensure accountability and strengthen the ongoing drive against illegal narcotic cultivation, SSP Anantnag has initiated Departmental enquiries against 16 beat officers for failing to report instances of illegal cultivation within their respective jurisdictions.
During a recent review of field reports and ground verification, it was found that certain beat officers had not promptly reported illegal cultivation of contraband crops, thereby showing negligence in the discharge of their duties. Taking serious cognizance of the lapse, SSP Anantnag ordered immediate departmental action against the erring officials.
The action underscores the zero-tolerance policy adopted by Anantnag Police towards any form of negligence, particularly in matters related to the fight against drug menace. All officers have been strictly directed to maintain heightened vigilance, conduct regular field inspections, and ensure timely reporting of any illegal activities.
SSP Anantnag reiterated that strict accountability will be enforced at all levels and any dereliction of duty will invite stringent action. The general public has also been urged to cooperate with the police by sharing information regarding illegal cultivation or drug-related activities.
