Sinthan–Kishtwar Road Closed Indefinitely Following Flash Flood Damage
Kokernag, July 02: (ANR) The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Kokernag, has ordered the immediate closure of the Sinthan–Kishtwar Road for all vehicular traffic following extensive damage caused by recent flash floods and cloudbursts.
According to an official order issued on Thursday, the road has suffered severe damage at multiple locations, making it unsafe for the movement of vehicles. Authorities have also cited an increased risk of landslides, road subsidence, falling debris, and further deterioration due to adverse weather conditions.
In the interest of public safety, the administration has temporarily prohibited the movement of all vehicles on the road. The order states that the closure will remain in force until the damaged stretches are restored and declared fit for traffic by the competent authorities.
The administration has urged commuters and travelers to avoid the route and cooperate with authorities until further orders are issued. (ANR)
