J&K to Witness Multiple Spells of Rain Till August 15; MET Centre Warns of Heavy Showers, Flash Flood Risk
Srinagar, Aug 6: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast multiple spells of rain and thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days, with a warning of heavy rainfall in some districts between August 9 and 11.
According to the forecast, many places across the Union Territory are likely to receive one or two spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers from August 6 to 8, while a few areas may witness brief intense showers.
From August 9 to 11, rain activity is expected to intensify, with most places likely to experience light to moderate rainfall. The MET Centre has also predicted heavy rainfall and brief intense heavy showers in a few districts during this period.
For August 12 to 15, light rain and thundershowers are likely to continue at many places, with isolated intense showers expected at a few locations.
Issuing an advisory, the MET Centre cautioned that torrential rain and brief spells of intense heavy showers could trigger flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas. Residents, particularly those living in flood- and landslide-prone regions, have been advised to remain vigilant and follow weather updates issued by the authorities.
