Kokernag, Dec 29 : The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kokernag has ordered the closure of the Daksum–Sinthan Top–Chhatroo Road (NH-244) and the Gowran–Margan Top Road following heavy snowfall in the area , citing public safety concerns.
According to the official order, snowfall occurred during the intervening night of December 28 and 29, and weather forecasts indicate the possibility of further snowfall over the coming days. As a result, road conditions have become unsafe for vehicular movement.
“In the interest of public safety, vehicular traffic on these roads shall remain closed till further orders,” the order stated. The roads will be reopened only after snow clearance operations are completed by the concerned departments and the routes are certified fit for traffic.
The Station House Officer (SHO) Larnoo has been directed to strictly implement the order on the ground, ensure effective barricading at both naka points, and prevent any unauthorized vehicular movement during the closure period.
All concerned departments, as well as the general public, have been instructed to strictly comply with the order. (ANR)
